Mission Statement

A Capitalist Union of Employees & Owners

Core value # 01 – cv01 tweet code

We promote re-inventing unions into a capitalist uniting of employees.

We do this through employees developing universal, corruption fighting, power abuse checking skills of critical reasoning, international thinking, futuristic oriented re- inventive,  synergistic, creative problem solving abilities with an international perspective, long term vision & on a continuously improving basis.

These capitalist union employee skills will be equally used to greatly & continuously increase the value of the employee, company, nation & international society, using a universally respectable set of values.

These values will be designed & implemented in a way to appeal to the widest, largest possible plurality of all the culturally diverse groups of people of differing incomes, social rank, opinions, philosophies & persuasions. These diverse groups will also have faith & confidence in our capitalist employee skills, ideas & goals developed with worldwide respectable values, as just & fair for the entire worldwide community.

I have been studying Swift Transportation’s Guiding Principles which include two pages of mission statement, values, team purpose & vision. And I noticed something nowhere in there does it say anything about increasing employee wealth for their work in maintaining profit goals.  They only get recognized.  There are all kinds of profit goals for company & employees do great efforts to achieve these goals, not for a capitalistic pay increase but for a more socialist type of pay called recognition. I don’t know about you, but I can’t pay bills with recognition.

So I am calling for a philosophical strike debate on mission statements. Then I will have a few things to add to the Swift Guiding Principles to make it equally capitalistic for employees.

We advise embracing your companies mission statements, but insist they include capitalist financial type incentives for employees as well. If the company doesn’t have your financial incentives on their goals radar then how can they go there?

I call this a capitalistic union of employees and owners process adjustment & it starts with your corporate mission statement. So add to your corporate mission statement some capitalist achievement goals for employees. I call this a smart capitalist union of employees & owners.

Goals

Here is our swift guiding principles with asterisks * additions insertions from Damian:

Swift Transportation’s Guiding Principles:

Mission Statement – At Swift Transportation our mission is to attract & retain customers by providing best in class transportation solutions, & foster a profitable, disciplined culture of safety, service,& trust. *we will simultaneously maintain both profit goals, and the goal of having the highest compensated drivers/ employees in the industry*

Values:

Swift’s Guiding Principles on Values:

  • Ethics: do the “right thing” and always help others to the right, honest,& ethical things
  • Respect: treat others with the same personal & professional consideration we expect of ourselves
  • Balance: Manage your time for both business and personal success.
  • *Reward*: *swift is gratified 2 reward drivers/ employees financially for increasing profits yearly according to goals. Swift rewards by yearly pay increases, improving benefits, improving work conditions; less need for off duty work requirements, processes & procedures; & less unpaid work requirements*
  • Winning Attitude:  Have a “can do” attitude. Be positive, upbeat, & focused. We are winners!
  • Communication:  Share information, ask questions, listen effectively, speak thoughtfully, and let ideas live
  • Development: Learn from each other. Teach, coach, listen. Create an environment where everyone can be a “star”.
  • Teamwork: Value different viewpoints. Execute the agreed upon plans. Together everyone achieves more.
  • Change: Accept it. Embrace it. Initiate it. Do everything faster, better, and more value added.
  • Initiative: Seek opportunities. Use good judgement. Take intelligent risks. Champion ideas.
  • Accountability: Know your responsibilities. Live up to your commitments.
  • Trust:  There is nothing faster than the speed of trust! Extend it, cherish it, build it!
  • Safety: Choose to make safety a personal value. Think safe. Act safe. Be safe.

That concludes just the values section of the swift guiding principles. Did you notice something about these values? No values for employee incentive or rewards for work.  The exception is my entry/addition.  Seems there are no pro employee values it values the owner, board, CEO, upper management, etc.

What pro capitalist employee value or values would you add to the Swift Transportation list? Is it because employees do not make the list that there are none? The same would apply on the mission statement.  How would you change your companies’ mission statement 2 give workers more capitalist incentive ?

Now for the rest of Swift Transportation’s Guiding Principles Mission Statement. Something I noticed had absolutely no cash incentives for employees. I propose embracing your employer’s mission statement. But it may need a little re- editing for employee’s cash interests. Now there are 2 sections more in our re- edited guiding principles: Team Purpose And Vision first up:

Team Purpose

We serve Swift customers & employees by providing Best in Class transportation solutions < resulting in Best in Class financial employee rewards>, and a healthy secure work environment so <employees> can meet these business and personal objectives. By doing this, we help our organization achieve the high standards of our customers and build the character <that will help our employees realize their financial goals through superior customer service and profits.> Our commitment to excellence will drive Swift’s economic model through growth in sales, cost control, and increased financial prosperity. <All driven by generously increasing financial rewards to employees for meeting increasing productivity & profit goals>
